Annual Meeting of the Electorate

This meeting is a curious little hangover from legislation from 1894. The legisaltion established a Parish Meeting which must hold an Annual meeting between March and June. It's not a parish council meeting, but it usually falls to the parish council in an area where there is one to call the meeting. So, here is the notice of the meeting:

The Annual Meeting of the Parish of Elton will be convened on Monday 13 April 2026
at 7pm at the Community Centre, School Lane, Elton CH2 4PU.

This is not a parish council meeting, but a public meeting facilitated by the Chair of the Parish Council. It is the annual
occasion when those on the electoral roll of the civic parish of Elton can meet to compliment, comment or raise concerns about any issues of importance.

All are welcome, but please note restrictions apply should any votes be called for – only those on the electoral
roll may participate in a vote.

2. Minutes
To receive and approve the minutes of the previous year’s Annual Meeting of the Parish held on 14 April 2025.
3.Annual Report from the Chair of the Parish Council
The Chair will deliver a report detailing the activities of the parish council for the period from April 2025 to March 2026.
4. General Discussion
The opportunity for electors to raise any matters of importance to the Parish.

Electors in the parish are those who are registered on the voters roll at the time of the meeting. It is at the discretion of the Chair of the Meeting if persons who are not electors (members of the public) may make a representation. Should a vote be taken, only electors will be able to take part.

Parish Councillors, who are not electors of the Parish have the same rights to attend as a “Members of the Public” and have
no rights to speak, or vote (save for the Chair) but may be invited to speak
for their specialist knowledge of a particular subject under discussion.

AT THE RISING OF THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING the usual Monthly meeting of the PARISH COUNCIL will commence.
