Councillor Vacancy (2)

Council Vacancy Notice March 2026

We have a new councillor, Sue Owens, who replaces Darrel Highcock, who stepped down just before Christmas.
BUT, two other councillors have had a reassessment of how they spend their time and decided to withdraw from being parish councillors. SO, we have two additional vacancies. We are now in the call for election period, which means that fourteen working days from today, if ten electors or more petition Chesire West and Chester council then an election will be called to fill the vacancies.
If an election is called then the next step will be that people will need to put themselves forward for nomination. If three or more people put themselves forward then there will be an election. If less than three people put themselves forward then they will be elected uncontested and have a place on the parish coucnil.
If there is no call by ten electors for an election then, at the end of the 14 day period the vacancy will remain and the parish council will put in motion its Co-Option procedure to fill the vacancy.
The Vacancy notice is attached, along with a form that can be used to request an election.
If you need any information about the process, then please do get in touch.
